DeLaune

Office Manager

DeLaune is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She moved to Alabama to attend Samford University and has been here ever since. She obtained a master’s degree in social work from the University of Alabama and worked as a substance abuse counselor in Birmingham while Dr. Carlson finished dental school. They have been married since 2006 and have two active, young boys. They are advocates and supporters of Tuscaloosa’s Foster Care Community and are foster parents themselves. DeLaune only agreed to help Dr. Carlson open the practice and get things up and running – but more than ten years later, she is still here!

This is truly their family business, and she makes it a point that our patients are treated and welcomed like extended family. If she is not in the office or chasing the boys around, she enjoys reading, doing crossword puzzles, cooking or planning their next family adventure.

Becky

Patient Coordinator

Becky grew up in Orlando, Florida but has been in Alabama since 1991 when she moved here to attend the University of Alabama. She was a part of the Flag Corp in the Million Dollar Band and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management. Becky has worked in the dental and medical fields since 2000 and brings great experience and understanding to the practice. She joined our office in 2013 and has formed great relationships with our patients over the years, many of whom feel more like family!

Becky and her husband have been married for 30 years and have three wonderful children: two sons and one daughter. Their oldest son is a first lieutenant in the Army, their other son is in the Coast Guard and their daughter is currently attending Mississippi State University. In her spare time, Becky is usually found crafting and crocheting or serving at Taylorville Methodist Church. Becky is also animal lover and is a proud owner of three dogs.

Bridgit

HYGIENIST

Bridgit has roots all over Alabama! She grew up in Gilbertown but has spent a great deal of her life between the Gulf Coast and Tuscaloosa. She has been in dentistry since she was 19 years old and became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1988. Bridgit loves getting to know and build relationships with her patients and is passionate about helping people keep their teeth as clean as possible. Her years of experience and dedication to training and continuing education are an asset to our patients and practice.

In her spare time Bridgit can be found volunteering for pet rescue organizations, which is where she found her beloved dog, Sicily. She loves reading, listening to music, spending time with her daughter, watching Alabama football and traveling.

Hannah

DENTAL ASSISTANT

Hannah is from Brookwood, Alabama and has been working in dentistry since 2017. You may recognize her if you visited our neighbor and colleague, periodontist Dr. Scott Atkinson, where she gained a great deal of surgical and periodontal training and experience. She loves helping people to see what’s possible with their smiles and has a calming demeanor that has helped put many patients at ease.

Hannah stays busy outside of the office trying to keep up with her daughter, son, husband of 7 years, their two cats and a dog! She’s usually crafting, shopping, traveling to cheer competitions, playing games with her son, or trying to catch some quiet quality time with her family and fur babies.

Kimberly

Dental Assistant

Kimberly is a native of Tuscaloosa and graduate of Northridge High. After searching for the right career path, she came to dentistry in 2022 and feels like it’s the perfect fit! Kimberly has really enjoyed being a part of cosmetic and restorative cases where patients’ smiles and confidence have been restored. She takes pride in being able to put people at ease during their appointments, and usually has patients laughing with her on the way out of an appointment that they were previously anxious for. Perhaps these skills were honed during her off-the-clock work as a busy mom of three wonderful boys! In her spare time, Kimberly enjoys cheering on her boys in whatever sport or activity they’re pursuing, traveling, shopping and singing.

Stephanie

Hygienist

Stephanie grew up in Myrtlewood, Alabama, and moved to Tuscaloosa in 2008. She started working in the dental field as an assistant when she was only 19 years old. Her compassionate care and gentle touch made it a natural transition to become a registered dental hygienist and join our team in 2015. Stephanie has developed a following of loyal patients and she loves how the cadence of routine visits, year after year, really allows her to develop meaningful relationships with people. She loves that moment of surprise and joy when a patient sees their clean teeth for the first time after avoiding the dentist for a while.

Stephanie has been married to her husband for 11 years and they stay busy with their active daughter and 2 adorable puppies. But do not let her sweet voice and feminine demeanor fool you – when she is not polishing your pearly whites, you will find her fishing, hunting or honing her skills at the shooting range.

Shareka

HYGIENIST

Shareka grew up in Vernon, Alabama and started working in the dental field when she was 18 years old. She has worked in small town offices and big city practices, and her passion and positive attitude have been an asset in every setting. Shareka became a Registered Dental Hygienist in 2008 and she takes pride in providing high quality and detailed preventive dental care. She loves that moment of joy when a cleaning procedure is finished and a patient is excited about how good their teeth look and feel.

Outside of dentistry, Shareka stays busy with all their family activities. She’s usually preparing Sunday School lessons, chasing their energetic dog, cheering for her twin boys in their various sports and extracurriculars, or doting on her baby god-daughter. If she’s not coordinating all of that, you’ll find her line dancing or spending quality time with her husband and close friends.
