Dr. John Carlson was raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His father, Dr. Terry Carlson, is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in Tuscaloosa, and his grandfather, Dr. Norman Carlson, practiced dentistry in Northport for more than 50. Dr. Carlson attended high school at Tuscaloosa Academy and graduated in 2001, then received a degree in History from Samford University in Birmingham in 2005.
